After 6 months of our Church buildings being closed for public worship, this Sunday coming, 4th October, both of our churches reopen for worship, and this will inform you on how to book a place at worship in coming weeks during these very different circumstances. It goes without saying you should not be attending worship if you have Covid-19 symptoms, should be isolating or regard yourself as particularly vulnerable.
Service times are as normal, Drumclog (9.30am) and Avendale (11am).
Attendance numbers are limited to Drumclog (30) and Avendale (38). All available seating will be marked and socially distanced and household members will be able to sit together. As you know you will be required to bring with you a face covering and to wear this during the entire time you are in our buildings.
There will no congregational singing during worship though music will play a part in the service. It is anticipated that the service length will be no longer than 45/50 minutes.
Information posters and stewards will guide you on distancing, seating and sanctuary access procedures and hand sanitiser will be available for use. Toilet facilities will also be available.
Booking to attend worship is necessary.
For Drumclog please contact:- Mrs Mary Harkness
For Avendale please contact:- Mrs Muriel Mitchell
If you do not have their contact details then please either get in touch with the Minister or use the contact form on this website.
Please leave a contact detail for Test & Protect purposes.
It would assist our planning greatly if everyone wishing to at least trial attending our worship services made early contact (within the next 7-10 days) with Mary or Muriel so we can assess the level of interest and potential attendance. We will then be better able to allocate you a particular Sunday. Please do not assume others are more needy or deserving of a place, during October we are eager to allow everyone wishing to attend an opportunity to do so.
Please NB the weekly recorded services on You Tube will be continuing as normal.
Further good news, after over 18 months of vacancy I am delighted to announce that Dr David Moreland has agreed to assume the role of Kirk Session Clerk. I know this appointment has already been very warmly welcomed by the office-bearers of the Kirk Session and Congregational Board. David has been a most efficient, able and supportive Clerk to the Congregational Board for some 15 years (or more!) and I know he will continue to be a great asset to the congregation as Session Clerk. Please pray for David as he takes up this post and as he and I discuss many pressing matters in the weeks to come.
Finally, let me take this opportunity to inform you that this week I have intimated to the Clerk of the Presbytery of Hamilton that I intend to retire from the ministry of Word and Sacrament on Sunday 14th February 2021 and therefore will demit as minister of this congregation on this date. More of this in due course but I hope this early intimation will allow us all to use the next 4 months to make appropriate plans for the next stage of our respective Christian discipleship, service and witness.
